Steve Drane Retires After 40 Years of Representing Harley-Davidson On Vancouver Island

After many decades in the business, Steve is ready to spend more time enjoying his passions – all things
motorcycle and Military. Throughout his long career, Steve has been the poster boy for the guy who eats,
sleeps, lives, loves, dreams, and rides motorcycles.

His Retail Store outlasted numerous other H-D® Retail Stores on the Island over the years and he has a very loyal following of satisfied Customers. But the business has been just part of the fabric of Steve’s life. He is a charter member and long-time staunch supporter of the Victoria Motorcycle Club, one of the oldest clubs in Canada.

Steve was instrumental in the development of a motorcycle training program for Vancouver Island. He became a Chief Instructor in 1981 and dedicated many years to the promotion of motorcycle safety. Steve is also an accomplished competitor with awards in an unparalleled variety of disciplines such as motocross, road racing, hill climbing, drag racing, and long distance touring.

As many of you know, Steve was inducted into the Canadian Motorcycle Hall of Fame last September – a well deserved honour and acknowledgment of his contribution to Harley-Davidson in particular and motorcycling in general.

All the familiar faces at Steve Drane Harley-Davidson® will continue on with the new ownership and the Barnes are looking forward to a smooth transition with staff and Customers. We have every confidence that under the guiding influence of Brian Barnes, the Harley-Davidson® legacy on Vancouver Island will continue and indeed, flourish.

Steve will continue to work hand in hand with Brian in the shop until the beginning of April when he plans to go and do some riding! Steve intends to remain an active figure in the motorcycle community and he will be frequently around the shop and at motorcycle events.

Everyone at Steve Drane Harley-Davidson, Barnes Harley-Davidson, and Deeley Harley-Davidson® Canada thanks Steve sincerely for his tireless efforts, loyalty, and commitment over the years to both Deeley and Harley-Davidson. We wish him a future of enormous fun, and the radiant health to enjoy it.
